All my people on the floor...

Now, you may wonder what happened after my trip to Mount Sinai – or not. Well, I’ll tell you anyway. As Mubarak resigned and things started to get back to normal in Cairo, our school reopened. Isabelle, my flatmate, came back from Canada on Friday 25 February, only to pack her bags and leave for good the next week, as she had experienced modern civilisation back home and couldn’t stand to come back to chaos and dirt. And it feels like I'm seventeen again...

Ok, I have been pretty lazy lately, I haven’t written here for ages. Sorry about this. I have found that in this country you tend to have mood swings every other day. Sometimes you just feel you are having the time of your life, and sometimes the only thing you want to do is take the first plane to Europe (aka the land of sanity). Two weeks ago, I got some kind of eye infection: I woke up one morning and I looked like someone who had smoked far too much weed. First I was afraid, I was petrified...

Today, I was on a mission, or rather the school sent me on a mission: finding a flat! (What?! I've litterally just turned up in this country!). In order to help me out, they provided me with a lovely guy (Mahmoud) whose job remains a bit obscure... Are you just a guy helping people to find places to live?! Surely part of my rent will end up in your pocket, you gigolo! Anyway, I viewed 12 flats. Key words: big... err... big... and... big! I swear, Cairo is not single-friendly! All the flats have minimum 2 bedrooms and a living room... [Lire la suite]
